Dragons defeat St. Fred

The Mangham Dragons defeated the St. Frederick Warriors 36-21 last Friday night to remain undefeated a second week in a row.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Dragons took command of the game with 23 unanswered points in the second quarter for a 23-0 lead at half time.
Both teams scored once in the third quarter, bringing the score to 30-7. St. Frederick attempted to rally in the final quarter, scoring 14 points to Mangham’s six but it was too little too late and the Dragons took the win at 36-21.
Adam Eley hit four of seven pass attempts for 98 yards and a touchdown. Joe Colvin was one for two in passing for 34 yards. Colvin also received two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Haynes caught one pass for 47 yards, Donovan Haynes had one for 34 and Jimmy Criff had one for 33 yards.
Donovan Haynes scored rushed 27 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Haynes had 12 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown and Cam Wilmore ran 21 times for 68 yards and a touchdown. Also carrying the ball for Mangham were Adam Eley with six rushes for 33 yards, and Jimmy Criff with three carries for 32 yards.
Kolby Poindexter contributed four points on extra point kicks and Andrew Sevier had a safety for two more points.
On defense, Austin Payne had 111 tackles, while Madison Woodward had eight, Andrew Sevies had seven and Brandon Haynes, Randy Gayden and Bradley Cleary each had six.
Donovan Haynes andC Chandler Carnicle had four tackles each, Tyler Haynes had three, Timothy Combs had two and Jimmy Criff, Zach Williamson and Joe Colvin each one one tackle.
This week the Dragons will be on the road as they travel to Leesville to take on the Pickering Red Devils. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 in Leesville.
