Holly Ridge Happenings

“I wonder,” said good Parson Jones with a little troubled frown, “if there is any way to get you folks seated farther down?

You see I have to talk across so many empty pews, before my voice can reach the back, I fear my point you lose. And then I feel so lonesome, way up here and you clear back there, It’s hard to feel you’re with me when I come to God in prayer.

I wonder if you folks are scared of what I’m going to preach that you hurry so to park in the farthest back seat? Or do you fear the church some day will suddenly catch afire? Or do you want to slip out quick if of my subject your tire? I wish you’d come up closer so I wouldn’t have to shout: If you don’t, I’m going to have those back seats taken out!”

I’m  sorry that my news is short these week but, I suppose no one visits or had visitors. Maybe more next week.

Dan and Alice Rainwateer had visitors this week. Alice’s sister, Mary Carter from Abita Springs, Helen Greer from Monroe, Ruby Dayberry from Metarie were here for a visit. Of course you know that Dan and Alice enjoyed them.

Coming out on Wednesday for ice cream and a visit was Lester and Dorthy Cruz from Delhi. We always enjoy our visit.

Leo and Carolyn Lyle and Mrs. Mary Grantham enjoyed having their children from Alabama, Greg and Pam Grantham  and son Carson here for the weekend. I would have loved to see them, it has been quit sometime since I saw those Kids.

While shopping in Sam’s on Monday I ran into John Walker. He told me their home in Denham Springs was flooded and they were up here at the daughters.  He said it would be near Christmas when they got to go home but, Joyce sure was homesick.
