Rural hospitals honor senator

Senator Francis Thompson, who represents District 34 in the Louisiana Senate, is this year’s recipient of the Rural Hospital Coalition’s Legislator of the Year award. 

The Coalition, the trade organization representing Louisiana’s small rural hospitals, presented Senator Thompson with the award at their annual conference in Baton Rouge on May 7.

The executive director of the Coalition, Charles Castille, stated, “Senator Thompson has demonstrated a great deal of sensitivity to the enormous challenges facing Louisiana’s small rural hospitals and the communities they serve. With the leadership of legislators such as Senator Thompson, the unique challenges facing Louisiana’s rural hospitals can be overcome. We are most appreciative of his leadership and guidance on rural health issues. He has been a true friend to rural hospitals and the people they serve.”
