Epps High School to host color run

Back-to-school can be stressful.
Epps High School has a solution. How about alleviating the stress by dousing yourself and others in a rainbow of colors?
The Pre-K through twelfth grade school is hosting its very first My School Color Run. The program aims to go beyond traditional fundraising by engaging fitness and fun into a 5K and one-and-a-half-mile fun run.
All students, parents, faculty, and community members are invited to walk, jog, or run their way toward the finish line while being blasted with color at several different stations throughout the course and end with a color toss.
“We’re extremely excited about the launch of the My School Color Run Program at our school,” Brandy Clay, parent sponsor, said. “We’re looking forward to involving our entire student body and faculty in a fun and healthy program. We want to engage the entire community and encourage local businesses and individual community members to get involved.”
The Panthers Back-to-School Color Run Festival is also offering a wide array of other fun for all ages. Several school clubs, sports teams, and Louisiana vendors will be on campus providing booths for food, bingo, face painting, a water slide, arts and crafts, music, several raffles, and other treats.
“Our goal is to promote good health, happiness, and fun,” Penny Hale, Epps High principal, said. “The Color Run is an energetic and safe environment for people to celebrate healthiness. We hope everyone will come out.”
For those interested in the color run, registration before Friday, July 29 will include entry in the races, a Color Run t-shirt, a race number bib, and a color packet. Children ages two to twelve years old can participate for $25, and those thirteen and up can join in for $35. Register online at 2016Panthers.eventbrite.com. Paper registrations are also available.
Come join the fun on Saturday, August 13 at Epps High School in Epps, Louisiana from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Color Run participants can pick up their registration packets on Friday, August 12 in the school multi-purpose room from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday, August 13 beginning at 7 a.m. at the festival gates. Anyone interested in more information about the color run festival, vendor or sponsor information, or a copy of the paper registration can contact Penny Hale or Brandy Clay.
