Theft of ATM attempted in Columbia

Early Sunday morning, December 6, around 3:30 am, three men dressed in black, pried open the door to Mac’s Fresh Market. When the officer responded to the alarm code they found the front door open as well as the office door. The store’s safe is bolted to the floor so the thieves were not able to take it. As of Monday morning nothing was reported missing.
While working the burglary at Mac’s, the officers were notified that a vehicle had crashed into the Homeland Bank ATM next to the Chevron across the river. A truck stolen from Texas rammed the ATM but was not able to take any money from it. The truck was disabled after the crash and was left at the scene. After viewing the video from Mac’s it was determined that the truck left at the ATM was the same truck used at Mac’s break in. The investigation is ongoing.
