Officials continue to monitor flooding in Richland Parish

Richland Parish OEP Director Dawn Williams announced this morning that the flooding in Richland Parish continues to be closely monitored. 
 
Lafourche Canal at LA Highway 15 continues to rise. However Lafourche canal has begun to fall slightly in the northwest area of theparish. National Guard Assessment teams and Richland Parish Deputies are traveling throughout the parish recording water levels at multiple locations throughout the day.
 
The Rayville Civic Center Shelter is open and operational for those needing shelter. If you havebeen displaced or you are not able to prepare meals in your home due to flooding, meals areavailable at the shelter.
 
Beginning at 1 p.m. March 16, “Flood Buckets” donated by the Rayville United Methodist Church will be available for victims of flooding. These can be picked up at the Rayville CivicCenter Shelter. You must have Identification and at least one proof of residence (utility bill, etc.) address must be verified. One “Flood Bucket” per household at this time due to limited quantities, however additional buckets should be arriving soon.
 
Many parish roads are still underwater and closed. The Richland Parish Police Jury has setup temporary dumpster sites, for Disaster Relief ONLY. These sites are as follows:
1. Rayville Police Jury Barn
2. Camille Street, Rayville
3. Hayes Street, Rayville
4. Delhi Police Jury Barn
5. LA Highway 183, Holly Ridge (Old School site north of Holly Ridge Elementary School)
6. Alto Police Jury Barn
7. Start Gin, Hwy 80 Start
 
FEMA has arrived here in Richland Parish. Teams will be visiting impacted areas. FEMA willalso setup an office in the Disaster Relief Center located at 112D Morgan Street, Rayville (the former Richland Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Office.)
