Poppy Day event honors veterans

The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Boys and Girls State delegates will assist with distributing poppies May 21 in the towns of Delhi, Rayville and Mangham in observance of Memorial Day.  

Delhi Mayor Jesse Washington Mangham Mayor Johnny Nash and Mayor Harry Lewis of Rayville join these delegates in support of this activity. 

“Each year the delegates support poppy distribution as their community service,” American Legion Auxiliary member Tina Cielatka stated.

Assisting with this activity will be Blanche Wilks, Amanda Stewart, Martha Harrell, Cindy  Perritt Mix, Kaye Perritt and Melda Silk. 

Delegates from Mangham are Jada Gaines, Mary Smith, Noah Cardin and Jordan Ponder.

Delhi delegates are  A’lexus Johnson, Annabel Maxwell, Gabby Tate, T’keaya Cooper, Latia Hopkins, Tamia Hopkins, Marc Sanchez and Bryan Stansbury.   

Rayville delegates are Mariana Tarver, Leslie Ann Sharbono, Katherine Payne, Kriste Payne and Leon Green.                   

Look for the delegates Thursday as they observe Poppy Day honoring veterans.
