RPSO seizes narcotics during recent drug bust

Richland Parish Sheriff’s deputies completed a long-term narcotics investigation by making two arrests for drug trafficking.
Sheriff Gary Gilley said his deputies had suspected Garland D. Burgess, 45, of 60 Baker Lane, of selling narcotics from his house for some time.
Gilley said undercover officers made six illegal drug buys from Burgess’ residence over the course of their investigation and used this as evidence to obtain a search warrant for the house.
Upon executing the search warrant Nov. 20, deputies were able to seize six grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of crack cocaine, 2.7 grams of marijuana, seven fire arms, $1,469 in cash, baggies, scales and other paraphernalia, a truck and an four-wheeler.
Burgess and his girlfriend, Earlisha Williams, were both charged with a variety of offenses related to possessing and selling illegal drugs.
