Unwanted guest held on drug charges

A Shreveport man was arrested on drug charges in Rayville following a domestic disturbance complaint.

Rayville Police Chief Willie L. Robinson Sr., said his department received a call on May 3 from a local resident requesting assistance from the police in reference to a subject who was restricted from her property. The subject in question was pulled up outside the citizen’s residence, blowing his car’s horn.

Upon the officers’ arrival, the subject had already left the scene. However, Robinson said, police were give his name and a description of the vehicle.

Later that same day, Officer Amanda Wilhite and Officer Teresa Winston conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  During the course of the traffic stop, the officers located drug paraphernalia and synthetic marijuana.

Charles Mays Jr., 41, of 6827 Rockwell Place, Shreveport, was then arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance with intent to distribute, possession of synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license and simple escape.

Chief Robinson would like to commend his officers for their speedy and efficient resolution of this case.

“What started as a simple complaint about an unwanted guest resulted in confiscation of illegal drugs,” the chief said. “One arrest at a time, we are hindering the distribution and use of illegal drugs on the streets of our town.”

Chief Robinson also advised that those involved in such criminal activities should be advised that sooner or later, they will be arrested and held accountable.
