Delhi Bears take win over Delta Charter

The Delhi Bears took a 34-24 victory over the Delta Charter School Storm last Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Bears got on the board with a two-yard touchdown plunge by Brandon Williams.
Delta Charter then took the lead with two touchdowns to end the half ahead 12-6.
Delhi’s Richard Washington scored on a 22-yard run to tie the score up at 12-12 when the third quarter started.
The Storm regained their lead with 52-yard touchdown pass to move head 18-12.
The Bears then ran the kickoff back 60 yards to tie the game back up at 18-18. Brandon Williams then completed a pass for the two-point conversion and a 20-18 lead for the Delhi Bears.
The Storm rushed 61-yards for another touchdown and ended the quarter with a 24-20 lead over the bears.
Delhi scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to take the game.
Jimmy Thomas scored on a nine-yard run to bring the score to move the Bears ahead 26-24 and then added two more points by running in the conversion to make the lead 28-24 for the bears.
Thomas scored again on a five-yard run to give the Bears a 34-24 victory at the end of the game.
The win boosts the Bears to 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in District play.
This week, the Bears will be at home, defending against Sicily Island. The Tigers are 2-4 overall and 0-3 in district play. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Oct. 13.
