Lady Dragons take District 2-1A championship

The Lady Dragons started their final 7 game end of the season stretch with a win over the Delhi Charter Gators to sweep District 2-1A with an 8-0 district record.  

Karley Poindexter went the full game to give the Dragons the 13-2 victory.  

Hits came from Miranda Smart (1), Graycen Dye (2), Poindexter (1), Kennedy Heisler (2), Arin Dye (1), Morgan Duchense (2) and Lauren Nobles (1).

Tuesday, the Dragons visited the Caldwell Lady Spartans which proved to be a tough task.  A. Dye did a great job on the mound for the Dragons only giving up 3 hits.  But the Dragons could not string their 5 hits together losing to the Lady Spartans 2-0.  The Lady Dragon’s hits came from Smart (1), G. Dye (1), Poindexter (1), Heisler (1), and A. Dye (1). 

On Wednesday, the Dragons visited the Bastrop Lady Rams.  Leann Franks started on the mound and Poindexter came in for relief.  

Again the Dragons out hit their opponent but came up short on the scoreboard by a score of 9-4.  The Dragons had 10 hits from Smart (2), Romero (1), Collins (2), Heisler (1), A. Dye (1), Nobles (2) and Anna Carter (1). 

The Lady Dragons came alive in their host tournament to finish up their last 3 games of the week.  

Poindexter went the full game against the Vidalia Lady Vikings to give the Dragons a 7-6 win.  The Dragons produces 9 hits from Heisler (1), Romero (1), Poindexter (1), Collins (1), A. Dye (2), Duchense (2), and Nobles (1).

A. Dye took the mound the full game against the Oak Grove Lady Tigers and gave the Dragons their second win of the tournament 8-6.  The Dragons had 12 hits in this contest from Heisler (2), Romero (1), Poindexter (1), Collins (2), Duchense (1), A. Dye (1), Nobles (1), and Kara Wilcher (2).

In the final game of the tournament against the Franklin Parish Lady Patriots, Poindexter, A. Dye and Franks shared the mound work with Poindexter getting the win by a score of 4-2.  The Lady Dragons had 10 hits in the contest coming from Smart (4), Romero (1), Poindexter (1), Heisler (2), Duchense (1), and Wilcher(1).  

Weather permitting, the Dragons will close the regular season out at Monterey on Tuesday.
