Mangham Lady Dragons set sights on Class 1A championship

Coach Scott Wilcher and Lady Dragons came up a little short last year in the quarterfinal game against the eventual Class 1A State Champions by a score of 3-2 and have worked hard both on and off the field to get back to the contest.

Mangham Dragons earned the #2 seed opened their first round of the playoffs with White Castle.  Karley Poindexter shared the mound in this one with Arin Dye.  In 4 innings of work they combined with a total of 6 strikeouts with Poindexter getting the win.

Miranda Smart was the first to cross the plate for the Dragons with a double by Graycen Dye.  Rachel Collins got into a line drive that was snagged by the third baseman who then stepped on the bag for a double play to end the first.

Poindexter and Kennedy Heisler lead off the second inning with back-to-back doubles and followed up with a single by Morgan Duchense to get the Dragons out to a 5-run inning.

In the third, Collins hit a single, another double by Heisler and a single by Smart to give the Dragons 10-0 lead at the end of the third.

Collins came back up in the 4th with a double to bring in G. Dye and the final 4 runs came by way of walks to give the Dragons their first playoff victory on the road back to Sulphur.
