Parish teams take field
The Oak Grove Tigers took a 55-38 win against the Delhi Bears last Friday night in Oak Grove.
The win leaves Oak Grove at 7-1 overall and undefeated in district play at 5-0. The loss drops Delhi to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in district play.
Oak Grove began the game with a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and widened it to 34-24 by the end of the first half. The Tigers scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to increase their lead to 48-24. Delhi scored twice to Oak Grove’s single touchdown in the fourth quarter, to leave the final score at 55-38.
Brandon Williams led the air attack for Delhi, completing 23 of 50 pass attempts for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
Kevin Fair pulled in 11 of those passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Demarmion Leggins caught two passes for 17 yards and one touchdowns.
Jamie Thomas had three receptions for 32 yards, Cameron McDowell had one for 21 yards and Maquil Hicks had one catch for three yards.
Williams also led Delhi’s rushing with 21 carries for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Jimmie Thomas had 16 carries for 102 yards and Deremy Washington had one carry for two yards.
The Tigers will travel to Sicily Island to take on the 2-6 Sicily Island Tigers at 7 p.m. Oct. 27.
The Bears will be at home this week as they take on the 1-7 Tensas Panthers at 7 p.m. Oct. 27.
The Rayville Hornets blanked Beekman 46-0 in last Friday night. The win boosts Rayville to 4-4 over all and 4-1 in district play.
Rayville will travel to Shreveport this week for a game against Loyola College Prep. Loyola is 4-4 and 1-0 in district play. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Oct. 27.
The Ferriday Trojans held the Mangham Dragons scoreless last Friday night for a 48-0 win. The loss means Mangham falls to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in district play.The Dragons will travel to Vidalia this week to take on the Viking in a district match. The Vikings are currently 7-1 overall and 3-1 in district play.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in Vidalia.
