Outlook for April 16, 2015

Hello, hello to all of you dear and special readers who are now scanning this week’s Richland Beacon News.  I do hope this finds all of you folks in good health and able to enjoy each and every day of your life.

As most of you know, we are getting on into this month of April which just has to be my most favorite other than December which bring Christmas to us.  I have known a few people who were kind of sour about Christmas - probably because it has been commercialized so much.

I do hope that I never get to the point where I can’t enjoy celebrating any national holiday and celebrating with other folks.  Life is too short for folks not to look forward to each day and what it may bring.  And, if something not so good comes along, then we just try to cope with it to the best of our ability.  And, I find that is a pretty good “game plan” for me and I will continue to follow it from day to day,  Something has surely worked for me or I would not still be on the scene to talk about it.  Oh,  yes indeed, and I thank God for that.........

Now, to get back to April and my coming here to live in 1949.  Oh, yes, I know that “dates” me; but, I don’t worry about my age.  I touch up my face with a bit of powder and lipstick and that helps a bit.  And, I am most thankful to report that I don’t have any aches or pains and I take almost no prescribed meds - only a couple of kind of vitamins.  And, I know that is a blessing in my older years.

CHUCKLE #1 -  The fellow who had recently joined a nudist club was describing his experiences.  “When I arrived, they were all completely nude; even the butler who took my hat and coat.”

“But if they had no clothes on,” objected a listener, “how did you know it was the butler?”

“Well, I knew dang well it wasn’t the maid,” snapped the other man. (???)

So, let’s see if I can dredge up a bit of news from my activities of this past week.  There was a gathering last Friday night of senior adults at Woodlawn Baptist Church and I accompanied my son, Kirby and his wife, Linda to attend this event.  Attendance was good as we gathered in the Family Life Center to enjoy a good meal which some of our ladies had prepared,

After the meal, we were entertained by a younger fellow who told some funny stories and did a little “picking and grinning” while he strummed his guitar and did a few “slight of hand” tricks. And, he was very good with this effort.  I think he was a nephew of our pastor; but, I didn’t get his name or where he may live.

As I look forward to warmer weather, I am planning to do a few jobs around my home and these will include taking blankets off my bed and storing them until next winter  and putting coats in a closet along with other items not needed until cooler weather comes in the fall.  And, that will be several months from now.....Oh, yes....

CHUCKLE #2 -  “What’s this I hear about your little sister being sick in bed, Jimmy?” inquired a neighbor.  “I hope it’s not anything serious.”

“Aw, it ain’t much,” answered Jackie.  “We were just playing a game to see who could lean out of the window the furtherest, an’ she won.”   ????

As we move on a bit further, I am hearing lawn mowers at work in the various yards around our large block of homes.  I have a good friend who comes and mows my yard when the grass gets high enough and this was\

done last week.  The dead leaves had accumulated to such an extent that he had to just dump them out on the street for the wind to blow away.  Oh, well, time does take care of a lot of problems and I have seen this fact proved out over my years of life.  Yes, indeed........

Well, folks are still having birthdays and I will list a few of them as follows:  Andrew McQueen, Ruth Odom and Ethan Thames on 4/17; Doug Parrish, Josh Middleton and Mercedes Williams on 4/18; Susan Hoychick,

Dru Lattimer and Christian Colvin on 4/19; Steve Coleman on 4/20; Rebecca Bryan on 4/21 and for Jimmy Bolton and Sonny Mills on 4/22.  May all of these good people enjoy a most happy celebration of their natal day and we wish them many, many more in the years to come.  Oh, yes, indeed........

And, that will just about bring another Outlook effort to a close for one more week.  I hope to meet all of you folks next week again in the same way, same time and same place, etc....Oh, yes.....

PARTING THOUGHT:  May we all strive to wear a cheerful countenance at all times, as a smile radiates warmth, love and concern for others.
