Crew Lake UMW meet

The United Methodist Women of the Crew Lake Church met May 7 in the fellowship hall.

Sarah Robinson and Melva Gilbert brought a delicious supper of barbecue pork sandwiches, cole slaw, chips, red cake and carmel cake. Sarah said grace. All served themselves and enjoyed the wonderful meal.

Next, Melva gave a devotional on the widow who gave two coins. She passed a coin around that was a mite. It was like what the widow gave. A short discussion about giving followed the devotional.

Dianne Williams, president, led the business session. Melva Gilbert gave the treasurer’s report. Jean Powell read the minutes from the previous meeting.

New business was discussed. It was decided to financially help two families who could use some assistance at this time.

Each member brought spring plants to exchange with others. 

This was the group’s second year to do this. After each one received their plants, there was a bounty to carry home.

The group was dismissed with the next meeting scheduled to be in August.
