Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson advised all citizens of Rayville of the important of respecting the property of others.

“If something does not belong to you, it’s very simple -- just don’t touch it without consent of the owner. This applies to personal property and also to merchandise in stores,” the chief said. “Businesses in Rayville are closely monitored, so you can be sure that if you are shoplifting, you will be caught.”

Chief Robinson advised that parents of juveniles who are charged with any type of theft can be held accountable for making restitution if the stolen property is not recovered.

Chief Robinson would also like to encourage parents to take an active interest in their child’s education and in their social activities.

“It’s very important for you to monitor the people who have an influence on your children,” he said. “Teach them while they are young in the way that they should live and when they are older, they will not depart from how they’ve been taught.”

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
