Scout camp schedule announced

Louisiana Purchase Council has announced the Boy Scouts of America

summer camp schedule for 2015.

Boy Scout Camp for sixth through 12th grades will be held June 7-13 at Camp T.L. James near Downsville and June 14-20 at Camp Attakapas near Trout. The program will include the opportunity to work on a variety of merit badges including cycling, emergency preparedness, fish and wildlife management, shotgun shooting, small boat sailing and wilderness survival. Also, youth will have opportunities to swim and use the climbing tower. Also offered at Camp T.L. James this year is the ATV program. Participants will learn the safety, care, and driving of ATVs. The cost is $225 per registered Scout.

Cub Scout Resident Camp for first through fifth grades will be held June 21-24 at Camp Attakapas near Trout and June 24-27 at Camp T.L. James near Downsville. Activities will archery, bb gun shooting, crafts, fishing, hiking, swimming, and rock climbing on climbing tower and more. The cost is $125 per registered Scout.

Cub Scout Day Camps for first through fifth grades will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 26-29 at Kiroli Park, West Monroe; from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 26-29 at The Gospel, Ruston; and from  12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 26-29 at Pineville First United Methodist Church, Pineville. Activities will include medieval knight training. castle wall scaling, sling shot training to combat dragons, sword training to defend the castle and much more. The cost per registered Scout is $75 and includes camp t-shirt and a patch.
