Clarks eyes juvenile curfew

Several ordinances were introduced or revised at the Town of Clarks regularly scheduled meeting held on February 9. Ordinance 02-16 was introduced and concerns juveniles under the age of 17 being under a curfew from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. except on Friday and Saturday. On Friday and Saturday the curfew will be from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. The curfew is for public property or places which includes any street, sidewalk, right-of-way, alley, highway, park, playground or other place which the general public has access. Exceptions would include being accompanied by a parent, custodian, etc., attending a special function sponsored by an educational, religious or nonprofit organization and during an emergency.
Ordinance 01-16 was introduced and concerns the Clarks Police Department. The ordinance contains rules and regulations such as purchases, driving police cars, passengers, tickets, etc. It also covers the duties of the Chief of Police, Duties of Police Officers, Oath of Office and Uniforms.
Ordinance 04-08 was revised concerning Water Customer Rates. Rates inside corporate limits are as follows: Residential $14.00 minimum, $2.00 per 1000 gallons over 2000 gallons, Rental $25.00 minimum for first 1000 gallons, $2.25 per 1000 gallons over the minimum. Non-Residential $20.00 minimum for first 1000 gallons, $2.00 per 1000 gallons over the minimum, Institution $100.00 minimum for first 1000 gallons, $2.00 per 1000 gallons over the minimum.
Outside Corporate Limits: Residential $21.00 minimum, $2.25 per 1000 gallons over 1000 gallon minimum. Non-Residential $31.5 minimum for first 1000 gallons, $2.25 per 1000 gallons over the minimum, Institution $100.00 minimum for first 1000 gallons, $2.250 per 1000 gallons over the minimum.
The minutes for the previous meeting held on January 12 and special meeting held on January 19 were reviewed and approved. The financial statements for January were reviewed and approved.
The Water Department report mentioned repairs on lines, monthly water/sewer samples, and removing old meters from vacant lots. The department is preparing an inventory list with Grayson to better handle any parts needs. The monitoring plan was updated.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Town of Clarks will be held on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m.
