Fireworks and Family Day in Columbia Friday and Saturday

Fourth of July celebration

The Caldwell Parish Chamber of Commerce will host Fireworks and a Family Day in Downtown Columbia this year in celebration of Independence Day.
Friday, July 3, 2015 promises an evening of fun for the entire family with gospel music beginning at 7:00 p.m. followed by fireworks on the Ouachita River at 9:00 p.m. Sponsors for the fireworks include John Cooksey Eye Services, Eddie Neitz State Farm, Oceanic Services, Excel Mart, Knife Works, Monroe Welding Supply and the Captains Quarters & Coffee Shop. Bring your lawn chairs or quilts and relax on the River Walk while enjoying the festivities.
Saturday, July 4, 2015 is Family Day by the River. A Children’s Parade will start at 10:00 a.m. with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for the Most Patriotic being awarded. Decorate yourselves, wagons, or bicycles to participate. Gospel musicians Wanda Hughes and Mike Freeman will perform throughout the day for your enjoyment. Ladies, bake your favorite Pies and enter them in the Pie contest. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners awarded. Come out and dunk your favorite candidate in the Dunking Booth while you enjoy a hot dog, chips, and a drink  for $5.00 Everyone is encouraged to bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the day.
