31 years of service

Oak Grove Police Chief Johnny C. “Beanie” Moss has announced his retirement after 31 years of service to the Town of Oak Grove.

Chief Moss’s last day on the force will be May 31, 2015 with an official retirement date of July 30.

“It has been my pleasure to serve the people of Oak Grove and West Carroll Parish for many years.” Moss said. “It has always been my goal to provide high quality community policing and I am proud to have a record of having a safe and peaceful town under my watch. I am looking forward to continuing to reside here and be an active part of our community during my retirement.”

Chief Moss began his career as patrolman in June of 1984 under former Chief Archie Aultman, he was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1996, and was named Chief of Police in April of 1999 following the retirement of Chief Aultman.

With over 31 years of service to the Town of Oak Grove, Moss is the longest serving police officer in the history of the town.

“It has been an honor to work with Chief Moss over the last year,” Mayor Adam Holland said. “I have known Chief my entire life and as a community we are very greatful for his years of service to our town.”

Moss is married to the former Bonnie Herring of Oak Grove, with three children Dana Sanderson of Goodwill, Kelly Clark and John Moss of Oak Grove.
