Weather balloon found in West Carroll Parish

A young West Carroll citizen recently spotted an object on a roof top in Kilbourne and when he and his dad and brother got it off they realized it was a weather balloon.
Reuben Russell, 8, student at Oak Grove Elementary, along with 6-year-old Rory and his dad Bruce read the label on the transmitter box attached to the balloon and got the address the weather service requests they be returned to. The balloon had been launched in Shreveport and had traveled this far before falling.
There was a huge number of deflated balloons handing onto the box. There was also information that informed those who find them that the device is harmless.
Bruce told The Gazette that the balloon was found in Kilbourne between the Baptist and Methodist churches. They planned to return the balloon to the weather bureau in Shreveport where it was launched. Their dad, Bruce, said it looked as if there had been about 40 inflated balloons on the balloon which carried a transmitter.
