Delhi takes second place in powerlifting tourney

Delhi High School took the state runner-up slot in the boys and girls division of the Class A championship in power lifting at ULM.

Ascension Episcopal won the state championship in both divisions.

In the boy’s division, Ascension came in first with 38 points while DHS finished second with 35 points. Delhi Charter School came in fourth with 23 points.

In the girls division, Ascension finished first with 50 points, while DHS came in second with 44 points and Delhi Charter came in seventh with nine points.

Delhi High School’s Jonathon Fountain was named best lifter in the 181-pounds to super heavyweight division.

Individual winners in the boys division included Hunter McKinney of DCS who came in second in the 114 class with 670 pounds, Tyler McMurry of DCS who came in second in the 123 class with 780 pounds, Cameron McDowell of DHS who came in third in the 132 class with 805 pounds and Tripp Spillers of DCS who came in fourth with 800 pounds,  Trevon Sharp of DHS who came in first in the 148 class with 990 pounds and Deshon Island of DHS who came in second with 980 pounds, Rodney Mitchell of Delhi Charter who came in fourth in the 181 class with 1,055 pounds, Ethan Harrell of DCS who came in third in the 198 class with 1,040 pounds, Javon McDowell of DHS who came in second in the 220 class with 1,410 pounds, Justin Gray of DHS who came in second in the 242 class with 1,400 pounds and Walter Anderson of DHS who came in third with 1,330, Jonathan Fountain of DHS who came in first in the 275 class with 1,615 and Austin Mahoney of DCS who came in fifth with 915 pounds and Anthony Smithey of DCS who came in second in the super heavyweight class with 1,470 pounds.

Individual winners in the girls division included Latia Hopkins of DHS who came in second in the 105 class with 555 pounds and Camille Watts of DCS who came in fourth with 44 pounds, Kadeja Cooper of DHS who came in first in the 132 class with 655 pounds and Akeryah Tillery of DHS who came in third with 565 pounds, Tamia Hopkins of DHS who came in first in the 148 class with 725 pounds and Kristin Turner of DCS who came in second with 660 pounds, Bailey Killingsworth of DCS who came in fourth in the 165 class with 505 pounds, Diamond Hines of DHS who came in second in the 181 class with 700 pounds, Tierra McCall of DHS who came in first in the 220 class with 750 pounds and Ashland Cleveland of DHS who came in first in the 22+ class with 890 pounds and T’Keyah Cooper of DHS who came in third place with 740 pounds.
