Inmate dies at Richland Parish Detention Center

An inmate died May 7 while in custody at the Richland Parish Detention Center.
Richland Parish Sheriff Lee Harrell said Floyd Brown, 62, died at 4:30 a.m. May 7. The preliminary investigation indicates Brown dies of natural causes. Brown was pronounced deceased by the Richland Parish Coroner’s Office and an autopsy was ordered.
He was a Department of Corrections offender being housed at RPDC.
Harrell said Brown’s next of kin were notified and that he had asked the Louisiana State Police – Criminal Investigative Division to conduct an outside and independent investigation of the death.
