Wreath deadline nears
It is not too late to still order wreaths and honor the veterans in your life.
The cutoff date for Wreaths Across America Nov. 13. The live balsam wreaths are $15 each and can be sponsored by individuals and businesses for specific or undesignated sites at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans’ Cemetery.
Wreaths can also be sponsored and picked up to be placed at the sites of veterans buried elsewhere. There are over 2,600 veterans’ graves in Richland Parish. Please help to cover as many sites as possible, by contacting Rhymes Memorial Library at 728-4127 for your wreath sponsorship form.
Forms may be picked up anytime from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday.
Churches and other organizations are encouraged to sponsor wreaths and cover veterans’ graves in area cemeteries throughout the parish.
The local National Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 on the grounds of the Northeast Louisiana Veterans’ Cemetery, just south of Rayville on Highway 425. Everyone is invited to participate in this ceremony that will honor veterans from around our area.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare the wreaths and place the wreaths at the veterans’ cemetery. If interested please contact Dellie Hicks at Rhymes or any ORLRS board member.
All help will be welcomed and appreciated.
