Vernie Charles Mitchell

Memorial services for Mr. Vernie Charles Mitchell, 93, of Watumpka, AL, formerly of Delhi, were held Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Delhi with the Rev. Paul Lipe officiating.

Vernie was born on May 4, 1921 in Caddo, TX and died on March 31, 2015 in Watumpka, AL.

He was a retired Master Mechanic for Sun Oil Co. formerly located in Delhi.

He was a longtime member, Sunday School Teacher and Bus Driver for the First Baptist Church of Delhi.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Payne Washburne Mitchell; his parents Hoyle Mitchell and Ruby Smithson Mitchell and a brother Harley Ray Mitchell.

Surviving him are three children Michael Ray Mitchell of Dallas, TX, Sherrie Kay Greenlee of Joplin, MO and Christy Desautels of Watumpka, AL; three step sons Eugene P. Washburne of Hot Springs Village, AR, Jack Nathaniel Washburne Jr. of Tuscaloosa, AL and Dr. Willard F. Washburne of Shreveport, LA; a sister Dorothy Lou Baucum of Lake Texoma, TX, thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
