LSMSA opens applications for next school year

The Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts is searching for future Eagles.
Do you want to attend a high school that is ranked in the top one percent of ALL high schools in the nation? Do you want to be taught by the number three faculty in the NATION?
Then now is the time to apply to attend the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts for the 2018-19 school year.
The application process is now officially open at LSMSA for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
Priority deadline for applications is April 1. Students who have completed all of the parts of their applications by this date will receive priority over students who have not completed the process. This does not mean the school stops accepting applications.
The first step is to complete and submit the online application found at www.LSMSA.edu/apply. The application contains sections which must be completed by the applicant and the parent/guardian.
The next step is to register to take the ACT or the SAT. If taking the ACT, the Office of Enrollment Services recommends the Dec. 9 or Feb. 10 test dates. If taking the SAT, the Dec. 2 or March 10 test dates are recommended. When registering for either test, please be sure to use code 6351 in the four digit space for reports to colleges and scholarship programs. This code will ensure that test scores will be sent to LSMSA in a timely manner.
Ask your guidance counselor to fax or mail copies of any recent LEAP/EOC scores to Enrollment Services or upload copies of your score reports.
Complete the online request for letters of recommendation from a principal or guidance counselor, a math teacher and an English teacher.
After winter break, request an official mid-year transcript from your guidance counselor and ask that it be sent to LSMSA. Students applying to enroll at LSMSA as sophomores may send a copy of their first semester report cards.
Make plans to attend one of LSMSA’s Exploration Days so that you and your family can learn more about LSMSA. Exploration Days for this school year will be held Friday, Nov. 10, Saturday, Jan. 20, and Friday, March 9.
If you are unable to attend an Exploration Day, set up a tour by contacting the Office of Enrollment Services.
Once an application is complete, the Office of Enrollment Services will contact a prospective student to schedule a time for an interview. Most interviews are completed over the phone, so it will not require that he or she come to campus.
In August, LSMSA was ranked in the top one percent in the nation, and the faculty were ranked the third best in the nation on Niche’s 2018 Best Public High School in America’s list.
