First responders deserve thanks

To The Editor:

I wanted to take a few minutes to say it has been an exciting summer in more way than one, especially around the Girard community.

I want to say thank you again to the EMS services, Richland Parish Sheriff’s Department and both Rayville and Start fire departments. Each time they were called this summer, they responded quickly acted above the call of duty and showed sincere concern.

Even though we said thank you, I wanted to say thank you again to all.

Sincerely,

Renee Stanley

Go Care needs your support

To the Editor:

In 1987 Go Care was started by a beautiful caring lady, Jo Hale. This agency was set up to assist with the growing needs of HIV/AIDS in our communities. We had numerous contributors like the former Mrs. Kitty Degree whose goal was to help all those infected with this virus. There was no Ryan White Foundation so many people worked hard to insure the needed help was there. It was amazing.

Its mission has been trampled on and disgracefully destroyed if you look at its true mission. June of this year Go Care, Inc for whatever reason lost their case management with University Hospital Med 3 clinic, a state of the art hospital run by an excellent staff and physician whose primary goal is caring for her clients.

Since then Go Care’s Executive Director Richard Womack has stopped essential services to the clients in this community, as well as clients in  outlying parishes  unless they come to his newly created clinic at Go Care. These clients need these services although they will not receive the services this grant was set up for. This is unacceptable.

Go Care functions off a federal grant from HRSA.gov. It’s intended to help all of those no matter what physician they see.

Richard don’t you think these individuals suffer enough?

Stop this. It’s not your wallet these funds are coming from.

Please voice ypur concerns to HRSA, DHH and your local representatives.

Respectfully,

Terry Langli
