DCS Gators basketball team off to great start

The Delhi Charter School basketball team is in unfamiliar territory as it starts the 2016-17 campaign 7-0 before a break in game action before a Dec. 19 match up with 2A Sterlington.
This may be a surprise to some, but not Coach Chad Clark. Clark is in his 9th season as the leader of the DCS program, and the bumps he endured with a young team is now paying off.
The Gators began the season with a victory over Cross Town rival Delhi 78-74 to set the tone for such a quick start.
The Gators went on to win the Epps tournament, swept through the St. Frederick Thanksgiving tournament with wins over OCS, and District rival Oak Grove, and then mixed in a sweep of FCCS in mid weeks games to start 7-0 The Gators currently stand Number 1 the 1A Power Rankings released this week by the LHSAA.
The Gators have shown a balanced attack this season led by SR. Deshumbra Jones 17 PPG, JR. CJ Murphy 15.7 PPG, JR. Desmond Longino 12 PPG, JR. Jalen Lockett 10.7 PPG, and Soph. J’Quan Polly, 10 PPG. Other memberrs of the team adding much needed depth include: Seniors Alandis Stubblefield, Jackson Rider, Juniors Martez Allen, Hunter Lee, Bobby Benson, Azavier Stubblefield, Sopomore Trey Houston, and Freshmen Matt Haymen, Travis Thompson, Marcelles Crear, and Cameron McDaniel.
