Giants defeat Hornets 33-22 in non-district play

The Rayville Hornets lost 33-22 to the Jena Giants last Friday night.
The non-district loss leaves the Hornets at 0-2 on the season.
Rayville quarterback James Powell hit 18 of 29 pass attempts for 189 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
Rashad Naylor hauled in four of those passes for 49 yards and two touchdowns while D’jour Daniels had four receptions for 44 yards and one touchdown.
Samuel Sledge has seven receptions for 80 yards, while Adrian Brown had two for nine yards and Cameron Autman had one for seven yards.
Autman also lead the Hornet rushing with 10 carries for 29 yards while Powell had seven for 28 yards and Naylor ran the ball once for two yards.
Jena came out to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Rayville and Jena both scored twice in the second quarter and entered halftime with Jena ahead 30-14.
In the third quarter, Jena scored seix unanswered points and Rayville scored 8 points to Jena’s seven in the fourth quarter for the final score of Jena 33, Rayville 22.
This week, the Hornets will be on the road again, taking on Union Parish in Farmerville.
The Farmers are currently 1-1
