Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to thank everyone who attended the recent Open House at Rayville Police Department.

“My staff and I look forward to Open House every year because it gives us a chance to socialize with the citizens on a more personal level,” the chief said.

Chief Robinson also stated that he hopes the sense of peace and well-being he felt at the event continues on through the remainder of the holiday season.

Chief Robinson would also like to remind all motorists of the importance of obeying all posted traffic signs and signals, including speed limits.

“Speed limits and traffic signs/signals are posted for the safety of all vehicles on the road,” the chief said. “A lot of needless accidents could be avoided simply by obeying those.”

Chief Robinson advised that his officers are alert and monitoring traffic for violations. All violations will be cited appropriately.

Chief Robinson would like to remind all citizens to exercise increased caution during the holiday season.

“When you’re out shopping, be sure to secure your purchases in the trunk of your car or out of sight somewhere in the vehicle,” the chief said.  “Leaving merchandise in plain view inside an unattended vehicle increases your risk of having your vehicle burglarized.”

Chief Robinson also stated that citizens should be wary of strangers who approach you.

“Some scam artists attempt to sell damaged or stolen goods in parking lots and other public places,” the chief said the chief. “Unfortunately, many people with criminal intentions increase their activities during holidays.”

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
