Welcome signs to be unveiled in Oak Grove

Oak Grove Mayor Adam T. Holland and the Oak Grove Town Council are pleased to announce and invite the public to join them and the town’s funding partners Gilley Enterprises/McDonalds and Regions bank Wednesday at the East Entrance to the city at 4 PM for the unveiling of the Town’s new welcome signs.
“I have already had people ask what’s under the tarps,” Mayor Holland said laughingly. “I have told everyone to join us Wednesday and be one of the first to see what’s behind them.
The new signs have a brick and stucco finish and note Oak Grove as the “Northgate to Poverty Point.”
“This is the first step of many to promote Oak Grove as a progressive city.” Holland said. “We took the design recommended by our consultants which pay tribute to our past as a railroad town and incorporated the West Carroll’s crown jewel Poverty Point. By tying ourselves with this growing tourist attraction we not only are promoting our town but West Carroll Parish as well.
We have a lot to be proud of in Oak Grove and these new professionally designed signs show we are a city headed for success.
We thank Regions Bank and Gilley Enterprises/ McDonalds for funding the purchase of these first two.”
Oak Grove is still looking for funding for the remaining two signs.
