Holly Ridge Happenings

Three Things

To Remember

Remember, three things come not back

The arrow sent upon its track.

It will not swerve, it will not stay

Its speed; it flies to wound and slay.

The spoken word so soon forgot

By thee, but it has perished not.

In other hearts, ‘tis living still

And doing work for good or ill.

and the lost opportunity

That cometh back no more to thee;

In vain thou weepest, in vain dost yearn

These three will nevermore return.

Recently the Swain Family had their family reunion at Poverty Point Lake. There was some 60 plus people who enjoyed this outing. Randy and Jeff Swain grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with all the extras that go with them. Everyone did enjoy the fun, food and fellowship!

Sorry about last week. I had sliced my finger on the meat slicers. Its better and will be alright!

Roger and Dollie Dew from Springhill were here on Wednesday for ice cream and brief visit, but they did come by this time. Ha! Al Peterson from Monroe son of the late Dayton and Arline Peterson was here on Friday. He had visited the cemetery and stopped in to say hello. Lanette Pruitt Colvin from Ruston came by, well stopped by to ask where the place was where she grew up of course that being on the McKnight road. I’ll tell you it had been years since I last saw her.

Down from Shreveport for the Mother’s Day weekend to vist Jerry and Diane Cobb was their daughter, Denise Cobb and Jim Iivy. Always good to see them.

Don’t forget the H.R. 50 year class reunion, Saturday May 16th, at the home of Lloyd Swain in Oak Ridge.

For all of those who had birthday last week, I hope you had a happy one and will have many more. Happy birthday this week to: Joshua Graham on May 14th, Justin Dear and Ben O’Neall on May 15th, Roy McCormick on May 16th, John Thomas and Chris Gilley on May 17th, Sandra Hogg and Gregory Burgess on May 19th, Zackery Swain on May 20th. May these celebrate many more.

Anniversary wishes to: Sandy and Glynn Stanley (33 years) on May 15th. I wish them many more happy years together!

Our heartfelt sympathy and love goes out to Mrs. Estelle Nicholson family at her homegoing last Friday. She will surely be missed. May God’s love sustain during their time of grief.
