Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson advised all motorists to be careful to travel in the correct direction on the one-way streets.

“All of the one-way streets in Rayville are marked very clearly,” the chief said  “Traveling in the opposite direction makes you a danger to vehicles traveling in the correct direction.”

Chief Robinson also reminded motorists that wearing seat belts is required by law.

“Make sure that you and your passengers are all wearing seat belts every time you are operating a motor vehicle,” he said.

Chief Robinson would like to commend his officers and staff for their tireless efforts during the recent flooding.

“This was a terrible event for our community to go through, the chief said, “but because of the efforts of my Officer in cooperation with other local agencies, there was no loss of life as a direct result of the flood.”

Chief Robinson also stated that the visible presence of his officers during this disaster curbed looting and other crimes that generally occur at times like this.

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
