Rayville High School preparing for students

 Rayville High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools  and has been serving the youth of rural Richland Parish since 1902.

The goal of the faculty and staff is to promote, encourage and embrace the social and cultural diversities to develop a well- rounded productive individual that is prepared to face the challenges of our changing society. The school is continually adapting itself in response to political, economic, cultural and other challenges. The school’s mission statement is Preparing All Students for Success. 

RHS offers Gifted and Talented classes along with Honors Classes in the four core courses to students who meet the necessary academic criteria. In addition, Dual Enrollment classes, through Louisiana Delta Community College and ULM, allow eligible students the opportunity to gain college credit while still attending high school. The graduating class of 2015 earned 648 hours of college credit and over $516,000 worth of TOPS and other scholarships.

For students interested in Career and Technical training Rayville High School offers JumpStart Curriculum PathWays which allow for work toward IBC certifications in Welding, Carpentry, Public Service and Business Management. Specialized courses within these pathwaths are Microsoft Word Usage, EXCEL Applications, First Responder Training, FEMA  Emergency Management, and Customer Service and Career Readiness. 

 Technology based academic programs such as READ 180, ALS, Eagle and Accelerated Reading and Math are utilized by all students for subject enrichment or instruction and by teachers when assessing student growth and setting individual student academic expectations. ODDYSSEY WARE is available for a variety of course and elective offerings. To assist in meeting the goal of our mission statement, Special Education  and 504 students receive modifications to  instruction and assessment as stated in their IEP’s or IAP’s.  

Rayville High School has steadily reduced its drop-out rate and improved its attendance rate over the past three years. Last year’s graduating class had a record 103 graduates and an amazing 3 students earning Valedictorian honors. Several students were selected winners in the State Young Authors competition and Social Studies Fair. 

In addition to the emphasis on academics, RHS offers a wide variety of excellent extracurricular programs.  Athletic offerings include football, girls and boys basketball, baseball, softball, girls and boys track, girls and boys tennis and powerlifting.  Students may also be involved in choir, cheerleading, pep squad and Stingers, the school dance line. The Rayville High School JROTC program offers opportunities for students to compete in close formation drill, color guard and rifle team. The Rayville High School JROTC’s rifle team has received regional, state, and national recognition for the past 5 years.

Clubs and Organizations include FFA, 4-H, National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Students, Spanish, Recycling, Yearbook, The Palmetto and, newsletter, The Hornets Buzz. These athletic teams, clubs, and organization are proud  to be involved in many community events ranging from  can food drives, delivery of items to needy families, Lifeshare Blood Drives, Pennies for Patients performing at civic functions to community cleanups, ringing the bells for the Salvation Army and  sponsoring a Salute to our communities service veterans. 

Rayville High School also participates in various School Wide Positive Behavior (SWPB) activities throughout the year, recognizing students who exemplify desirable behavior, character and attendance.

RHS promotes the involvement of parents and community members in monthly activities designed to educate and aid in understanding the changing role of education and how RHS is striving to keep pace.  The Parental Advisory Council meets quarterly to set an agenda of events to facilitate the communication of the school’s mission and vision for student academic success.
