Propane, cable service to be discussed at St. Joe public hearing
The Town of St. Joseph
will host a hearing to
obtain public opinion on
three new ordinances at 4
p.m. May 25.
The first, 15-326
would allow residents to
purchase propane to use
within town limits for basic
needs such as heating,
cooking, sanitation, etc.
The second, 15-327,
would set a franchise fee
for those companies providing
cable or video service.
Also on the agenda is
15-328, which would require
cable or video service
providers to pay support
for access to public,
educational, and governmental
programming.
When asked about
residents obtaining propane
service, Mayor Edward
Brown stated that
purchasing propane from
independent companies
would take revenue away
from the town, and that in
the future the town would
“go broke”.
