Delhi Masons host trash bash

New Delhi Lodge #184 held its first Trash Bash May 16 throughout the town of Delhi.

The event was conducted to involve youth and community members in adopting an initiative to keep the Town of Delhi clean. In the past, Delhi had won several awards for being the Cleanest City.

Lodge Leader and event organizer Patrick Stubblefield sends his deepest gratitude to all of the members of the lodge, Delhi Mayor Jesse Washington, youth and pastors and volunteers who gave their time to the event as well as sponsors Brookshire’s and Maxwell Hardware and Lumber Company.

School system employee Isaac “Nick” McDowell also joined the effort because of the potential he saw in involving elementary and junior high youths which could impact the way they take pride in their community and keeping their schools and communities clean.

“Additionally, it is worthwhile to mention that litter and trash is the packaging that all companies use to retail their products,” Delhi Alderman Bobby Benson said. “Therefore, we are all responsible for putting litter in its place to keep our area clean. The challenge before us is to do our part as individuals, families, communities, organizations, businesses, agencies and manufacturers to properly dispose of this packaging to preserve our environment, maintain property values and by keeping our communities clean.”
