Rayville native to head Grambling SGA

Rayville’s own Jonathan Wallace has been elected President of the Grambling State University Student Government Association for the upcoming 2015 – 2016 school year.

A junior at the University majoring in sports management, he is the son of Herman and Vanessa Wallace of Rayville.

Jonathan is an outstanding student/athlete who now plans to use what he has learned in the classroom and on the field to help lead Grambling’s student body to new heights.

His interest in student government began last fall when he saw an opportunity to bring his leadership qualities to SGA and was elected as a Class Senator.  He then studied what he calls the “ins and outs of SGA” to form a better understanding of the organization’s current role at the university and to envision what it can become under his leadership.

An honor graduate of Rayville High School, Class of 2013, Jonathan has completed a number of dual-enrollment courses and summer classes and will be a senior in the fall after just two years of college.

He is attending GSU on an athletic scholarship as the punter/placekicker for the football team, and is an outstanding musician as well.

He says his personal motto is: “Be the change you want to see.”

His campaign platform was “Exercising the P.O.W.E.R. to Discover your Purpose,” which translates to Placing Opportunities Within Everyone’s Reach.

He knows people come from different situations and may not know all of the opportunities that are available.

Identifying and making those opportunities known to the students will be a focus of his presidency.

Jonathan is the son of Herman and Vanessa Wallace of Rayville. He has two sisters, Cierra and Asia.
