DCS Lady Gators 12-10 as season winds down

Softball season is winding down and the Delhi Charter Lady Gators (12-10) had an up-and-down last 10 days with three wins and three losses.

The Gators split two district contests falling 8-1 to Mangham at home with a combined 4 home runs and losing 12-1 on the road to OCS.  In the Mangham game, senior Ashtyn Davis once again started off the game with a home run, but that was the only score the Lady Gators could manage against three Dragon pitchers.  Davis took the loss on the mound giving up three home runs to the Dragons on the night.

The first of the three district wins came after traveling across town to take on the Delhi Lady Bears and claiming a 20-9 win.

The second two wins came in double-header fashion as DCS downed the St. Fredrick Lady Warriors at home with scores of 13-1 and 23-8.

Seniors Emily Franklin and Davis picked up the win on senior night.  Franklin went 2 for 3 in the games with two doubles and was hit-by-pitch three times in the two games.

The only non-district game contested over the last two weeks was a 9-5 loss to the Caldwell Lady Spartans in Columbia.  DCS got behind early 8-0 but fought back to the final margin.  The Lady Gators currently sit at #26 in the latest power ratings and will travel in the first round of the playoffs.  Due to the recent rains, the Gators will finish their regular season against the Forest Lady Bulldogs on April 16th at home.
