Crew Lake celebrates Christmas

Crew Lake United Methodist Church held a Christmas program Dec. 6.

The UMW were in charge of the program.

Members followed the usual form of their service until after the Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer. Then Dianne Williams presented the Christmas program. the Chrismons were white and gold. They were made by older members of UMW several years past.

The world Chrismon is made up of the word of Christ. They represent the light of Jesus.

Two green Christmas trees were used. There was one on each side of the alter. UMW members Joan Brown, Frances Goodson, Jean Powell, Melva Gilbert, Lillian Whitten and Connie Word each had a Chrismon. They read the meaning of the Chrismon that they had, then hung it on the tree.

There was a basket of Chrismons on the altar. Dianne invited the congregation to come and hang them on the trees. There were enough Chrismons to decorate both trees. This finished the beautiful Christmas decorations in the church.

The choir sang “Silver and Gold” at the end of the program. Dianne made a few remarks.

A Tasting Party was held in the Fellowship hall of the Church. Pastor Marchall Sevier asked all to stay for the party. He said a blessing of the food. Then the congregation was dismissed to the fellowship hall. All enjoyed the service, the food and the fellowship.
