The Wisdom of Children

You can’t fool the kids in Sunday school, they are way too smart.

 “If I sold my house and my care, had a big  garage sale, and gave all my money to the church, would I get into heaven?” I asked my children in my Sunday school class. 

“No” all the children answered. “If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I get into heaven? 

Again, the answer was “No”! 

“Well,” I continued “then how can I get to heaven?” 

Five-year old little Johnny shouted. “You got to be dead!

Oh! What a great time we did have at our Holly Ridge School Reunion. There was nearly one hundred who shared in this celebration. “Remembering when speeches” were given by Malven Sistrunk, Caressa C. Walker, Nancy Cabino Zeller, and Bob Tatum. Very very interesting and so true. We had classmates from Colarodo, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama. The food catered by my grandson, Ben was just great and was enjoyed by all. Everyone is looking forward to the next year. If you missed this one, make plans for next year!

From Thursday thru Sunday Denise and Terry enjoyed their grandchildren, Hannah and Grace Marsh and Andrew Doughty all from Shreveport here for a good family visit. 

Roger and Dollie from Springhill were here on Thursday. They were here for a funeral in Dollies side of the family. 

Glenn and Kim Mann from Haughton stopped by on Saturday for their ice cream. They were going on to Pioneer to share in the Golden Wedding of their aunt and uncle.

Congratulations to Allen and Diane Nettle who celebrated the Golden Anniversary on Sunday at Calvary Church. Lot’s of friends and family come by to enjoy their “Big day”!

Happy Birthday this week to: Jimmy Toney and Kylie Clack on September 3rd, Shaina Roberts on September 4th, Eva Steele and Janie Shoemaker on September 5th, Connie Cheek on September 6th, David Toney on September 7th, Tyler Rawls, Shirley Beach and Glen Stanley on September 8th, May all of these celebrate many more happy ones!

Anniversary wishes to: Allison and Skipper Vaughn on September 8th, Terrah and Lancy Johnson on September 6th. I wish them many more happy years together!
