Marengo Swamp Ride is June 4th!

The Marengo Suicide Swamp Ride will be held June 4, 2016 on the Wildlife Management Area in Hebert. You will not have a better time on a four-wheeler than the mud holes at Marengo. The dirty “good clean fun” that Marengo offers cannot be topped anywhere else. This ride has the famous “suicide hole,” where only the truly daring riders attempt to conquer the machine-eating mud hole. Wish I Could reports that flood water is not covering the trail but that creek crossings may be deep. They advise to go further left (upstream) to cross. Flood waters have also left the suicide hole at this time.
Many a rider and ATV have met their doom at this spot. Over 5000 people riding stock, slightly modified and super-modified 4-wheelers head for the woods to “whoop it up” from daylight to dark. Riders come from all over the country to support this cause and have a great time.
Pre-registration tags can be purchased online for $20 per ATV until May 27th at midnight. Online tags will be mailed. Pre-registration tags will also be available for purchase at Howards Grocery in Hebert until June 3rd at 8:00 p.m. and Excel Mart #5 and #8 in Columbia until June 3rd at 7:00 p.m. and West Monroe Chevron located at the corner of Arkansas Road and 7th Street until June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. ATV tags may also be purchased at Entrance gate to ride on June 2nd and 3rd from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. On June 4th, ATV tags may be purchased at the gate from dawn until 2:00 p.m. for $25 per ATV. If you have preregistered and have not received your ATV tags by June 1st, call or text John at 318-243-6292 and he will have a copy of your tag waiting at the entrance gate.
To purchase raffle tickets for the Yamaha Wolverine, bring an extra $5 and purchase a raffle ticket at the entrance gate Friday noon until 8:00 p.m. or Saturday dawn until noon. Raffle drawing time is noon.
You must have a valid Louisiana hunting or fishing license or a one-day stamp. This 31st annual event is the fundraiser for the Wish I Could Foundation, which grants wishes to terminally ill children between ages 3 and 18. This is the major fundraiser each year for the group and everyone working with Wish I Could is a volunteer. Due to the Privacy Act, Wish I Could of NELA, Inc. cannot contact the parents of children with life threatening diseases to grant their wishes. Therefore, anyone who is aware of a child with a life threatening disease can have the family of the child contact Wish I Could at its Rayville, Louisiana location or call 318-728-2300.
