Voter canvass underway in Tensas Parish

According to Bobby James, Tensas Parish Registrar of Voters, ROV, R.S.18:192 provides that in each parish the Registrar of Voters shall annually canvass the names of the registrants in the parish.

The official canvass will be conducted the weekend of May 30.  Some voters will receive Voter Registration cards which are mailed by the State.  Anyone who receives such a card is encouraged to check the card carefully.

“This card is used as a certification that there is no change in your residence/mailing address as shown in the records of the Registrar,” said James.

If residence and mailing address are correct as those appearing on the top of this card, you may destroy it or keep it as a confirmation of your registration.  However, James notes that if the information is not correct, you need to notify the Registrar immediately in writing or in person of the corrected information.

Also, if the above residence/locatino contains ‘Information not Available’, please correct and mail to the Registrar of Voters, Post Office Box 183, St. Joseph, LA 71366.

James concludes, “Please note that if you have changed your name by remarriage or by court decree, it will be necessary for you to notify this office.”  (Office 766-3931 or fax 766-3933).
