Gloria Dean Grant

Funeral services for Gloria Dean Grant, 82, of Archibald, were held Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Cedar Baptist Church, Archibald, with Bro. William Waller and Dr. Charles Rogers officiating.

 Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery, Archibald, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.

Born as the only daughter of Edward Samuel Grant and Lucy Smith Grant on June 20, 1933, Gloria passed away peacefully in her home on August 14, 2015.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Herman Grant, Sr. and Wilbur Grant and a great nephew, Carl Edward Grant.

She leaves behind her nephew, Herman Grant, Jr. and wife, Camilla; nieces, Ann Clark and husband, Dane and Lynne Allen and husband, Scott. Gloria also leaves her cherished great nephews, Christopher Turbeville, Dustin Allen, and William Clark II as well as great nieces, Amy Green, Jennifer Stanley, Anna Stephenson, Dana Clark, and Candice Allen. Her adored great-great nephews and nieces, Austin Schillage, Dafney Templeton, Sebastian Stanley, Madison Watts, Bradley Ethridge, Jordan Sanders, Liam Ezell, and Zachary Ezell.

Gloria was a 1951 graduate of Mangham High School. She remained close to all her classmates through the years. She graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College, now ULM with a degree in Medical Technology. She also attained her Radiology Technician certification and worked in those capacities for 50 ? years. The majority of Gloria’s work career was spent at Ball-Ellington Clinic, now Northeast Louisiana Health Center. She worked with Dr. James Ball and Dr. J.C. Ellington and later with Dr. David Thompson and Dr. Dan LaFleur. She was dedicated to her work and co-workers having formed many lasting friendships there.

Gloria loved to travel, fish, read, and play Rook.

Special thanks to her lifelong friends, Frances O’Neal, Bettie Brunson, and Billie Jo Boughton for their years of devoted friendship and fun. She held her cousin, Sandy Lowentritt in her heart as one of her favorite people. 

Thank you to dedicated caregivers, Candice Allen and Dorothy Ausberry for giving loving care during Gloria’s illness. Thank you to Dr. Matt Prine for his care and attention to Gloria this past year. Thank you to Dr. David Thompson for his care and friendship through the years.

Pallbearers were Christopher Turbeville, Scott Allen, Dustin Allen, Austin Schillage, Johnny Burson and Samuel Smith. 

Honorary pallbearers were Grant Hill, Tom Hill, Billy Bruce Boughton and Bubba Clark.
