Ruthell Miller

Ruthell Miller, 66, was called home to be with our Father in Heaven on Saturday, May 9, 2015. 

Services will be at noon Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Pine Hill Baptist Church, Brickyard St., Rayville, with the Rev. Donald R. Pridgett officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Tennant’s Funeral Home.

She was born on April 27, 1949; the second child of 14 from the happy home of John Miller and Othil Johnson of Dubach.

Ruthell graduated from Alto High School in 1969. She confessed Christ at an early age in New Bethel Baptist Church in Mangham under the leadership of E.J. McFarland.

Ruthell shared 23 years with Earnest Chatmon and in their special years together they were blessed with four lovely children. She was the spirit-filled pillar of the family. Sister Ruthell was united in holy matrimony to Henry Jones in 2009 and in that union they shared no children.

Ruthell was preceded in death by her mother, Othil Sumblin; father, John Miller Sr.; stepfather Peter Sumblin Sr.; grandson, Kendravion; sister, Joyce Ann Sumblin; and brothers John Miller Sr., and Gregory Sumblin.

Her memories will forever be cherished by one daughter, Tameka Miller of Rayville; three sons, Shawn Miller, Kenney Miller Sr., and Earnest Miller, all of Rayville; six sisters, Gloria Sumblin of Shreveport, Susie Sumblin of Rayville, Barbara Ann Wheeler (Jerome) of Monroe and Delores Ann Sumblin, Linda Marie Sumblin and Tawanda Sumblin, all of Arlington, Texas; four brothers, Benjamin Miller of Houston, Texas, Robert Sumblin and Peter Sumblin, both of Rayville, and Richie Sumblin (Tiffany) of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, Deleyoung Miller, Kenneth Miller, Selena Miller, Galashia Miller, Lammarice Miller, Jalen Williams, Lyrie Williams, King Glover, Jalexis Wilson, Dedarius Lee, Kenyunna Miller, Kenney Miller Jr., Ethan Day and Mahagony Day; one great grandchild, D’Shaylynn Miller; and a special friend, Erica Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
