Winford Ted Crawford

Funeral services for Winford Ted Crawford, age 90, of Rayville were held  Monday, August 3, 2015, at Archibald First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating.

Interment followed at Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham. Arrangements were handled by Brown-Holley Funeral Home of Rayville.

Uncle Ted was born January 25, 1925, to the union of Willie T. Crawford and Mattie D. Lowery in Mangham and he passed from this life on August 1, 2015, at Richland Parish Hospital, Rayville.

He served his country during WWII. He was a successful lifelong cotton farmer in Richland Parish. Where he helped to establish the Rayville Producers Gin and served on its board of directors until his death. He also was instrumental in the formation of Richland Parish Hospital during his twenty year tenure as Police Juror. Uncle Ted enjoyed many hunting trips to Colorado and was a charter member of Crawford Camp in Madison Parish. He was active locally in the WM Baker Masonic Lodge of Mangham, a board member of the Archibald Water System, a member of Archibald First Baptist Church, a strong supporter of Mangham schools and many community activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Rosa Willis Crawford. His brothers, Clifton, Henry, Sidney, Ray, and Mallie; sisters, Katie Conley, Sally Allen, Ethel Fife, and Willie Mae Nivans.

Although Ted and Rosa had no children of their own, Uncle Ted served as a mentor to numerous nieces and nephews who survive him as well as a host of friends and family. He was Uncle Ted to anyone he ever met.

Pallbearers were Leslie Watson, Austin Crawford, Gordan Allen, James Gee, Isaac Gandy, Eddie Conley, Jr., and Jerry D. Crawford.

Honorary Pallbearers were members of Crawford Camp and Directors of Rayville Producers Gin.
